Son-in-law Heath has a professional photography studio and is a devoted dog lover.  Terry is an integral part of the family in Auckland.  And we all feel the same.  Here’s a note from Bex and Heath I wanted to share with you.

I’ve never shared any personal projects on here before. But I felt like mixing it up.

For the last 10 years I’ve wanted to shoot a photo series of old men and their old dogs.

I used to run past an old guy in St Mary’s Bay who would sit out the front of his old villa with his old grey dog. 

It didn’t matter what time of day I ran, the two of them were there.  Never interacting, just being.  Utterly content to just be near each other.

There was something about those two that charmed me so much I’ve never stopped thinking about them. 

About how much their companionship would have meant to each other at that stage of their lives.

Maybe I’ve over romanticized it, I don’t know. 

But it’s always made me happy to think of two dear old friends, batting out the end of their innings together.

Maybe one day I’ll shoot it in real life, but for now it was nice to get these characters out of my head and start seeing them come to life.
