Old school friend, Peaky Bugger, rugby international, world-changing international rugby coach, and all round Top Man – Brian Ashton, was 80 years young earlier this month.

45 of us celebrated this notable milestone with a dinner at my favourite pub – Tweedies in Grasmere, followed by an evening of tall tales, magical memories, love, friendship and karaoke at our Beckwood home.

Trudy DJ’ing, Jan and Sophie keeping the evening flowing, and Steve operating our three bars.  A true Team KR effort.

Brian was surrounded by family, friends and the Peaky Buggers.

Everyone there was there because they were special to Brian, and Brian was special to them.

A special night for a special man.

A true Lancastrian.

And my co-founder / partner in the (very exclusive) LRGS Black Sheep Club.

We love you, man.
