Are You A Spartan?

I’ve just completed some work on the global trends I’m seeing for the next three years – and I was so disappointed in what’s happening on the world political stage (the US, the UK, France, Russia etc) – it made me reflect on the timeless values all great leaders share.
I remain a believer in the Code of the Spartans. That small City state which stood up for what was right – when no-one was looking – 400 years BC.
I wrote about Sparta on this blog on July 12th, 2019 and compared our leaders at the time against the nine core values of Sparta. They came up miserably short. And today, the current crop is arguably even worse!!!
Here is The Spartan Code:
- A Spartan pushes their mind and body to their limits.
- A Spartan masters their emotions.
- A Spartan learns continuously.
- A Spartan gives generously.
- A Spartan leads.
- A Spartan stands up for what they believe in, no matter the cost.
- A Spartan knows their flaws as well as they know their strengths.
- A Spartan proves themselves through actions, not words.
- A Spartan lives every day as if it were their last.
