2024 Wrapped. In Love.
December 24, 2024
Here are my top Lovemarks for 2024 – all of them dripping with the Three Secrets – Mystery, Sensuality and Intimacy. The first 10 today, the second 10 to follow.
- Raffles at The OWO, London. I was on the road for much of 2024 staying in some terrific properties like the Fairmont Banff, Raffles Singapore and The Plaza, but my home from home was Raffles at The OWO where Philippe and Joanna made the magic happen. Mystery – The Spy Bar – 007. Sensuality – All five senses are stimulated 24/7. Intimacy – My own in-room Peloton, Metropolitan Police escort, (and Christmas tree!).
- Peloton. Kept me fit and healthy throughout the year and delivered all three secrets, especially Intimacy. Many of the instructors are part of my daily life accompanying and inspiring me.
- The Athletic non-alcoholic beer. It looks like a beer, smells like a beer, is packaged like a beer, pours like a beer, has the mouth-feel of a beer and the citrusy taste of an IPA beer. The fastest growing beverage in the US and a major factor in maintaining my sociability as I spent a dry, alcohol-free 2024.
- Netflix. They know me so well. Given my travel to virtually all continents (and God knows how many countries), Netflix was my key companion on all flights. The best way I know to pass 17 hours in a metal tube without going mad.
- Eryfotona. A brilliant, easy to apply skin protection fluid to protect against skin cancer, produced by Isdin in Barcelona (now available in the US). Recommended to me by their inspirational CEO Juan Naya to clear up the skin cancers he saw on my bald bonce. It worked. I now have a head as smooth as the proverbial baby’s bottom. I use Eryfotona every morning and now every night. It’s a (science based) Mystery to me. It’s sensorially outstanding in terms of feel and smell and is part of my life every day. A Lovemark that has created loyalty beyond reason in my life.
- Spotify. How did we exist before we had these 10 million songs curated individually just for each one of us? I’m in the top 1% of Spotify listeners globally. It is constantly on in all my homes when I’m there and thanks to Sonos it’s available in most rooms. How lucky are we?
- Eden Park. The French fashion brand, not Auckland’s rugby stadium (well maybe the rugby stadium could make it too, since the All Blacks haven’t been beaten there since 1995). Check out the brand developed by a couple of French internationals from Racing Club de Paris. I wear their shirts, sweaters, jackets and coats. All adorned with that little pink bow tie motif.
- Pepsi Max. I helped create it almost 30 years ago and since then I’ve been trying to live up to the advertising line we developed ”live life to the max”. It has no caffeine, no sugar, no calories – but tastes great and I still drink six cans a day.
- Booths – The Good Grocer. The best thing that ever happened to food and drink in the UK. A Lovemark of mine growing up, and a Lovemark of mine today. Come on up to Booth’s country and taste it yourself.
- The Mayo Clinic in Arizona. They cured me of cellulitis, excessive swelling, and circulation problems in my left leg that had been bothering me for 10 years. They worked as a team between infectious diseases, dermatology and circulation, got past the symptoms and identified the root cause. And cured it. Peak Performance in action. Inspirational players all working together in a great team to win.
More to follow later this week.
